King of the Mountain (KOM) Sports Marketing of Colorado Springs, Colo., has been retained by RPM Events Group LLC for sponsorship and marketing activation behind the newly-created world-class cycling events and festival in Colorado and Virginia, both set to launch in August 2017.
KOM Sports Marketing has more than 20 years of experience in integrated marketing including sponsorship, brand and event marketing, public relations and media operations around many of the top professional cycling races in the United States. In 2015, KOM Sports Marketing worked on the World Championships in Richmond, Va., USA Pro Challenge in Colorado and Tour of Alberta in Canada. They were also the official marketing agency for the World Championships for wrestling in 2015, which was lauded as the best-ever held by the international federation of the sport.
“KOM Sports Marketing brings a rich and successful history of developing sponsorship and marketing programs for world-class events, especially in the professional cycling arena,” said Tim Miller, the Chief Operating Officer of RPM Events Group. “Their diverse expertise in this type of enterprise will complement the hired staff we will have for this venture. They will focus heavily on sponsorship within the cycling events, but, will bring a wealth of experience into the creation, development and management of our sponsorship marketing activation platforms, which they did quite well at last year’s World Championships.”
KOM Sports Marketing president Steve Brunner said: “We’re honored to represent the new events and look to contribute immediately to the building blocks of this exciting series of events which are no doubt ground-breaking in their model and scope. Being a Colorado company, we take great pride in home state events. But, as a past resident of Virginia, and someone who worked on the World Championships last year, we welcome the opportunity to work again in familiar territory in support there.”
KOM Sports Marketing was founded in 2005. They have worked on the launch of 20 world-class events or brands since its inception. The company has won numerous marketing awards during its 11 years and has contributed to more than $10 million in sponsorship sales during that period.
